Observations on "The Scream"

Observations:
1. There doesn't seem to be a very specific focus.
2. The sky is not a normal everyday color that you would see in the sky.
3. It looks like it takes place in a real place or general area, even though it doesn't look real.
4. The "Scream" is in the middle and the front of the page. Might be "trying" to make that the focus, but yet the focus- to me is on the whole picture, not just the "Scream".
5. There are very few real colors that are used in it.

Inferences:
1. It looks like the focus was maybe supposed to be on the figure in the front of the painting...? But it's a little bit unclear.
2. The color of the sky makes it look like the painter was trying to even out all of the sadness with a bright orange sky.
3. the darkness looks like it represents the fear or anger of the figure in the front of the painting, but then the bright colors in the distance look as if they are showing hope of some sort.
4. The figure's face really sets the mood of the painting, and when I look at it, the way that figure is holding it's face in terror makes me feel the same way. It's very eye catching.
5. The face is a very distorted shape, and doesn't look like a real person at all.- why?

Interpretations:
1. The painting depicts an image of a character seemingly in distress.
2. The figure is screaming in fear, horror or shock.
3. The colors evoke feelings to the person looking at the painting.
4.  It seems the painting is mysterious. It is not clear what has happened or what is happening. It is left to the observer to imagine.
