Writing Prompt #5: Important Realizations

When you grow up you realize what life is all about.
You realize that your parents are bound to think things about you that aren't true.
You tell them one story and they come up with their own.
Can you tell them things that you don't want anyone else to know?
You always think to yourself about how many chances they give you.
But you never appreciate those chances.
You lose trust in them.
They lose trust in you.

But you also realize that being 13 isn't as bad as you thought.
You realize that you have freedom,
but you always have a place to call home.
No matter how many bad things you do,
your parents will always take you back.
You realize that they love you more than ever,
and they will always love you.
You understand what the consequences are for not listening to them.
But even then, you don't stop your searching for who you want to be.
That search for what you want to do.
You will always be curious. This is your time to go crazy.
"The time of your life".
Who are you really?
That's what you are looking for in your own little world.
You are always looking for what you want.

But sometimes you need to step back and look at how much your family loves you.
And how much your family looks to you to love them back.
And all you need to think about is loving them.
For a few moments. Put your life out of your mind.
Give your dad a hug. He won't be alive forever.
Give your mother a kiss. She will soon get old and need you to support her.
Let yourself lean on them for support.
I realized that you have to let yourself love everyone in your life.
Let them love you.
So next time,
don't push your sister away when she says hi to you when you get home.
Ask her how her day was.
